Filipinas Hate It When Their Western Boyfriends Do These 3 Things

If you find yourself being ignored, or receiving cold treatment from your Filipina girlfriend, I’ll bet a hundred bucks you did or said something to offend her.

These women are normally quite patient. They do their best to avoid arguments or confrontations. When they finally entertain anger, it means you did or said something wrong that’s non-negotiable.

If you want to maintain a good relationship with your Filipina girlfriend, I suggest you avoid doing these three offensive things:

1. Making insults toward her family and upbringing

The way Filipinos live day-to-day may sometimes come as a shock to Western men. It’s common for three generations to live in one household. And they’re overly respectful to their elders.

Filipinas don’t mind taking BS if it comes from an elder or someone they respect.

If you want to marry one, you’ll need to embrace those tight family bonds. Their parents and relatives will frequently visit your home, and you have to act okay with it. Careful not to look or sound annoyed, or else your Filipina wife won’t say a word to you for a week.

Filipinas also practice utang na loob, or a depth of gratitude towards their parents. Even when they turn 18 or marry, they look back to extend their parents’ help.

The common denominator here is simple. Unless you’ve got a family of your own, a Filipina will — without a second thought, sacrifice everything for her family’s happiness and well-being.

Never say bad things about her family, and you won’t ever have to deal with a pissed-off Filipina.

2. Being Indifferent towards the Philippines

Next to family, a Filipina woman is proud of anything Filipino.

Filipinos love their country so much, and Filipino pride is no joke. They look up and applaud world boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and Miss Universe winners Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray — people who bring the Philippines’ name to the international stage.

If your Filipina girlfriend celebrates these wins, just join her instead of repeatedly asking “Why?” You’ll just annoy her if you debate why it’s not that big of a thing. If you find it weird, just keep that opinion to yourself.

3. Bringing Up Negative Stereotypes

Filipinas and the Philippines in general are surrounded by a lot of stereotypes.

Some of these stereotypes they might find funny, like the Philippines being a jungle. They’d happily explain that’s incorrect and say that the country has some of the world’s biggest malls.

However, if you say Filipinas are gold-diggers, or that Filipinos abroad are all nurses, servants, and caregivers, you are setting yourself up in danger.

As their significant other, they expect you to be on their side. You wouldn’t want them to doubt if being with you is the right decision.

To avoid hate, try being sensitive and thinking twice before voicing out your opinion or question. There’s nothing wrong with being curious, just don’t make a joke about it or you’ll come off as offensive.

Takeaways

Filipinas aren’t that hard to please. They’re the warmest, most patient women you’ll ever meet. So don’t put that patience to the test. There’s always enough room for more kindness.
