They say love letters are outdated. Yes, they aren’t nearly as popular as they were when phones and the Internet didn’t exist.

But love letters still hold a different kind of depth and meaning. They’re romantic beyond definition.

And since Filipinas are big on romance, they’re suckers for love letters. Confessing your feelings to them over a letter will leave them breathless. It’s a romantic gesture they’ll forever remember, so doing it right is crucial.

To write the perfect, most heartfelt love letter for the love of your life in the Philippines, follow these tips:

Be ready to pour your heart out.

Filipinas are very sentimental.

They’ll take whatever they read in that letter to heart. So make sure you truly express your feelings and leave a mark. It must contain real feelings, or stories if you’ll tell some. Not just something you copied off the Internet.

Receiving love letters doesn’t happen to many. So they’ll notice every detail of it. Better take your time choosing the right paper to write on. Or practice your penmanship. You may also consider adding scent to the letter or envelope before mailing it.

Personalize your intro.

Your intro or greeting will set the mood for your letter. It must make them smile and feel excited to continue reading. So don’t just stick with the usual “Dear [name].”

Try adding a personal touch. Greet them with your endearment, like “Dear, my love,” “My dearest sweetheart.” Or you can be more romantic and write “To the love of my life,” or “To the girl I miss the most.”

Then state why you’re writing the letter. Is it your anniversary? Are you confessing your love? Or did she suddenly come across your mind and thought of writing her a love letter? Your call.

Everything you write must come from the heart.

Write how much you love or miss them in the body of the letter.

It’s time you tell them why they’re the love of your life. Pour out how much they have changed your life and made it better. Or tell a story of how you first met and why it’s still stuck in your head despite the years that have gone by.

Be cheesy if you must. Talk about butterflies and euphoric feelings. Like why of all the women in the world, you feel most in love with a Filipina.

Tell them how you’re willing to travel thousands of miles just to be with them for the rest of your life. Or how you’ll forever treasure your memories and vow to make more of them.

Reaffirm your love for her.

Warmly close your love letter by summing up everything you love about them and reaffirming your feelings.

It would be better if you keep it short — but sweet — since you already poured everything out in the letter body. You can write something like “I can’t wait to be with you for the rest of my life,” “I love you and that’s never going to change,” or “Having you in my life was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Then, sign your letter the way you wrote the intro — with a personal touch. Instead of “Sincerely, [name]”, you can write “Yours forever, [name]” or “All my heart, [name].”

It’ll touch the heart of your Filipina girlfriend and will give them more reasons to love you with all their heart.
