Never Say This to a Filipina (Or Else)

Words, as you would have it, have an impact.

I’m not just saying this because I love writing and I’m biased. There are things you say to a woman jokingly and there are words you should never utter in her presence. At best, your joke gets a giggle out of her and at worst, she calls the cops.

Let’s try to avoid the latter.

Filipinas are friendlier than most women in some countries. They like to joke a lot and some of their jokes also tow the line between hilarious and offensive. Still, it doesn’t mean that you can just say anything you want to a Filipina. There are things you should never say if you want a chance with her.

1. Never Mock the Filipinos That Represent Them

From Manny Pacquiao to whichever Filipina won the Miss Universe, never make fun of whoever is representing the Philippines.

Filipinos take a lot of pride in their representatives. Don’t try to poke fun at how excited they get whenever a boxing tournament happens.

You might unknowingly disrespect them and their country. Nothing is more upsetting than someone making fun of what you like. And Filipinos love their representatives on the world stage.

2. Never Talk Bad About Family, Theirs or Yours

Family. You never insult or disrespect family. You don’t do it anywhere, especially not in the Philippines where Filipinos do everything and anything for their families.

In the Philippines, family is considered as the foundation of social life. Everyone is close with their extended families and you’ll often find them visiting one another every time there’s an occasion. From weddings, birthdays, graduations, Christmas and so on.

There are also OFW’s (Overseas Filipino Workers) who work in foreign countries in order to provide for their families that still live in the Philippines. Most– if not everyone– who work abroad only do it because they want to be able to put food on the table. Can you now see how important family is to them?

If you insult a Filipina and her family, she will not only dismiss you as a husband-candidate, you might get a slap too. And you shouldn’t talk bad about your own, either. However you treat your family is going to reflect what kind of father and husband you’ll be in the future.

3. Never Comment About the Financial Difference Between the US and the Philippines

The Philippines is a developing country. Everyone’s salary there is significantly lower than that of Americans. It’s why a lot of the locals will think you’re rich if you visit the country. To them, every foreigner is richer than them.

Don’t mention anything about it to a local. A Filipina fully understands the situation and may take advantage of this difference. It’s up to you to tolerate women like this but if you find a sincere Filipina who you want to woo and marry, don’t talk about this difference.

At the end of the day, we should all watch our words when talking about another group of people. In fact, you should always be respectful when talking to anyone. And when you respect Filipinos, they’ll reciprocate that a hundred percent!
